BLEEDING OAKS IN
CALIFORNIA
The tree death which began with Tanbark oaks, is now affecting coastal live oaks, madrones, bays, rhododendron, azaleas and buckeyes. The trees bleed with the secondary opportunistic fungus, which, contrary to popular opinion, is not a new fungus. The fungus is only able now, after decades of air pollution, acid fog, ozone effects on the trees, to express itself. Notice the burned foliage to the right of the fungus infection that have been injured by acid rain and ozone
